Fall is around the corner and it is always nice to have an easy-yummy recipe one can do quickly.
Ingredients:
10-12 squares of Puff Pastry (5X5 inch)
5-6 Granny smith Apples - peeled, cored and cut to small pieces
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar + 1 tbls Sugar
1 once soft Butter
1 Egg
Confectioners' Sugar for sprinkling before serving
Heat the oven to 375°F / 190°C
In a 12-inch skillet over medium-high, heat the Apples, 1/2 cup Sugar, Butter, Ground Nutmeg and Ground Cinnamon. Cook until the Apple are tender. Steam the liquids. Let it cool completely.
Take one Puff Pastry square, spoon the Apples mixture in the middle (be generous), leaving about 1-inch of space along the edges. Brush the edges with water.
How to close the squares?
Bring opposite corners together; press and pinch to seal the edges
together. Place on baking sheet.
Beat the egg in a small bowl with a fork. Brush the pastry with
the egg. Sprinkle the 1 tbls sugar on top.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
Let the Strudel cool and sprinkle confectioners’ sugar before
serving.
You can serve the Strudel with Vanilla ice-cream and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
